“Blooming Bllocks”
Whisker & Brush Students have been invited to the XII version of this amazing show and contest! We created a planter made out of LEGO pieces. Come and see the four different sides of our planter and how we solved different problems creatively. Thank you to our collaborator and plant expert, Chiny Alarco from Charlie & Sons who donated the plants and helped us bring our vision forward!

The Joy Field
LongHouse Reserve
Spring- Summer 2025
Location: LongHouse Reserve, 133 Hands Creek Rd, East Hampton, NY 11937
I was honored to serve as the Maker-Mentor for LongHouse Reserve this Spring. Maker-Mentors is an in-school and on-site educational program for grades K–12, offering students an opportunity to learn about art, design, art history, and artistic mentorship through the legacy of Jack Lenor Larsen. As a result of this experience, we created the Joyfield art installation in the bamboo forest with the wonderful help of children from the Amagansett, Wainscott, and Whisker & Brush schools. I am deeply grateful for their creativity, energy, and enthusiasm.

Treasures of the Garden with Whisker & Brush
Art Workshop for Children
May 18
Location: LongHouse Reserve, 133 Hands Creek Rd, East Hampton, NY 11937
Don't miss this hands-on art workshop for children (ages 4–9) on Sunday, May 18 at 2:00pm led by Pia Leighton, founder, and teacher of Whisker & Brush - a joyful mindfulness and art school in Amagansett. This one-hour session invites young artists to explore with objects from the garden, using nature’s treasures as inspiration for their artwork. Children will select from a variety of gathered materials - twigs, leaves, dirt, petals, stones, and more - and use their imagination to create unique compositions. Through observation and exploration, they will mix, glue, and arrange their findings, collaborating with the beauty of nature already present at LongHouse Reserve. Class size limited to 12 students.
